New strategic software and services deal with Holland Gambling – Playtech to build live casino in the Netherlands

Betting innovation giant Playtech PLC has inked a brand new long-term software application and service agreement with state-owned casino operator Holland Casino, which is pleased to have a legal monopoly of land-based gambling in the Netherlands, where it is currently responsible for 14 brick-and-mortar video gaming establishments.

The “big” offer is in anticipation of the long-awaited launch of the iGaming market in the nation in northwestern Europe. Regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) announced on April 1 that it will problem the first licenses via the Remote Gambling Act by Oct. 1, 2021, the day the online gambling market goes live in the Netherlands. The regulator announced on April 19 that it has so far received 28 applications for a license to operate online gambling in the country.

According to the main press release, the agreement will see Playtech become a strategic innovation provider for the Dutch casino company, offering the operator its extensive multichannel innovations alongside “specific ancillary services”. Holland Casino will additionally use the FTSE 250 company’s IMS (Details Management Service) platform and its variety of products, including sports betting, online gaming facilities, live gaming facilities, poker and bingo, in addition to “specific operational and marketing services”.

As part of the offering, Playtech will apparently develop a live casino center in the “immediate vicinity” of one of Holland Casino ‘s 14 existing physical locations.

With “high ambitions for the new online market,” Ceo for Holland Gambling facility, Erwin van Lambaart said that “Playtech has the track record and the necessary scale to deliver industry-leading software, marketing and responsible gaming tools.”

The CEO added that they are “excited about the launch of the online market in the Netherlands in October 2021 and look forward to a long and successful relationship with Playtech as we work together to capitalize on this great opportunity.”

Founded in 1999 by Israeli-born billionaire businessperson Teddy Sagi, Playtech stated the relocation, which expands its long-standing tactical software application and services agreement with Holland Gambling facility, as “an essential tactical move for Playtech and builds on its track record of establishing newly controlled online markets.”

The shift comes on the heels of the Isle of Man-based company’s first-ever launch of its IMS platform in the United States through its new partnership with Parx Interactive and Weapon Lake Gambling establishment with a new iGaming app in Michigan, Play Weapon Lake. The tactical agreement announced in February this year with the online gaming arm of the Greenwood Racing, Inc. owned and operated Parx Gambling establishment sees Pennsylvania’s largest gaming establishment become the first to launch Playtech’s IMS platform in the US market.

As it continues to expand in the US, Playtech apparently plans to present additional offerings in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Indiana, as well as other jurisdictions in the states.

Speaking about the tactical collaboration with Holland Casino, Chief Executive Officer for Playtech, Mor Weizer described that “the strength of the Holland Casino brand name and regional presence, combined with Playtech’s 20 years of innovation leadership in the industry, will result in us driving the development of the online market in Holland.”

He added that they look forward to working with the casino company “to deliver the highest quality, majority-owned and responsible gaming home entertainment experience at retail and online in the Dutch market.” And that the agreement “demonstrates the execution of our method to continue to trade with the leading brands in the most attractive regulated markets internationally.”
